Investors have zero incentive to tell you why they say ‘no’
And by the time you figure it out, it’s often too late.
Pitch Guide is here to help
Who is behind Pitch Guide?
Haje Jan Kamps (LinkedIn) graduated with a journalism degree and then swore he would never work in journalism. He broke that promise almost immediately and spent the first part of his career as a journalist and TV producer in Norway, the UK, and the US. He founded his first startup more or less by accident when he decided to do a Kickstarter campaign and saw the company disintegrate when the second crowdfunding campaign imploded. He learned a thing or six along the way.
From there, he founded a bunch more startups, and worked as the Director of Portfolio for an SF-based VC firm (Haje usually describes that experience as being an industrial-scale helps-with-whatever to a huge portfolio of startups) and became an expert storyteller helping startups find their voice. He writes the popular TechCrunch series Pitch Deck Teardown where he snarkily breaks down pitch decks. He wrote a book about pitching, called Pitch Perfect, and works as a fundraising strategist and pitch coach. He created Pitch Guide, an in-depth resource for startup founders raising money.
He lives in Oakland, California, with a 3D printer, a laser cutter, and hand tools. He occasionally fosters a cat or two.
